I then spread out my materials in front of me.
This is where I feel optimistic and a little scared. I can see that these will make something cool, but not sure if I can do it without messing it up. It took me about an hour to finally decide which paper and in which order and then another 20min to work up the nerve to start cutting it. If I do this again, I will definitely look for a clipboard that I can take apart. Working around the clip was kinda miserable, but I was able to tie it back out of the way with some rope I found in a drawer.
Using some tracing paper, I made templates for the top portion of the board. Again, if the clip was removable, this would have been much easier.
After I glued down the top pieces and glossed over them, I added a full sheet of the second print over that. I wrapped the edges around because I knew I didnt want too many peeling edges. There was no hope for the top, but at least I could make the bottom and sides smooth.
Then, in an effort to cover up my not-so-smooth paper, I used a full sheet of the contract color to cover it up. :)
After a few coats of glue, I added the accents to the front and voila! Not bad for a first try.
